President's 2021 Independence Day Address

Good day All,
Nigeria National Community (NNC) London felicitates with Nigerians back home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the 61st independence anniversary of our dear nation.

For us, the journey of our country started very long time ago before independence. The perspective of what has caused the collapse of most artificial states in decades is the inability to accommodate and harness differences for mutual benefit. Nigeria with a diverse population must necessarily have federal constitution that allows different components considerable autonomy and powers, control of resources and opportunities to realize their full potentials since we believe that federations is anchored on shared sovereignty where federating units each have exclusive jurisdictions within their states. In this, neither the federal government nor the government of various constituent regions are constitutionally subordinate to each other. Above was the case when federal principles facilitated development, competition and development up to 1966. It's derailment has fostered endless crises and amplified fissures. What we have since is absurdly, only a federal constitution that operates today in Nigeria while the Federal government acts as a colonial power.

In 2014, President Jonathan's conference of indigenous nationality adopted restructuring. NNC invited three members of the confab to London for adequate brain storming on why they agreed to restructuring. It was agreed by all present at the various town hall meetings that restructuring is the way forward. The challenges of insecurity and economic problems are not insurmountable as NNC hope that Nigerians will live together to build a great nation as envisaged by our founding fathers. Thus, with low hope and with little or no courage, we enjoin Nigerians not to despair but to have faith that sooner than later, things will be better for all of us.

As we have no other country, let us keep faith with Nigeria and continue as one people to work for our collective security and prosperity.

Let's all continue to celebrate our unity in diversity.

Great People, Great Nation.
Happy Celebration.
